Why do you need food supplements?
Food that we eat, are not always packed with all the nutrients that are essential for the effective working of our systems.
Thanks to the change in the methods of farming and the chemicals being added to the soil, the depletion of natural minerals due to over-farming etc, we do not get proper nutrition and that is the reason food supplements are the need of the hour. What are food supplements? A food supplement is a product that will perform physiological role beyond the provision of simple nutritive requirements. It may be food or a part of food containing healt-promoting ingredients from plants, animals, minerals, vitamins, prebiotics or probiotics.
Reasons we should have supplements The purpose of the food supplement is to add that little extra to your normal diet. They ensure that you are getting a measurable amount of essential nutrients and make up for the poor nutrient content of the many foods we eat. Experts say that 90% of us are deficient in chromium, an essential trace mineral that is poorly supplied.
Stress can also increase the body’s need for certain nutrients, and these, can be easily obtained from supplements.
Then, there are antioxidants\ supplements that can hinder aging and cellular damage. Intake of essential nutrients in greater amounts, than can be supplied from our regular diet, has been shown to improve physical performance, fat loss and muscle gain.
Experts state that the need for supplements for disease prevention is so well documented that those who do not take at least conservative doses of antioxidants should be thought of as reckless. These people are allowing their body to undergo damage that is unnecessary.
Those who exercise regularly have a much higher need for antioxidants and minerals. Also, degenerative diseases are caused when there is multiple nutrient deficiencies.
Athletes suffer from many nutritional deficiencies and can use supplements to ensure optimum supplies of nutrients for maximum performance. Intake of nutrients has been shown to improve physical performance, fat loss and also muscle gain.
Fact file Experts say that hair is made up of protein and having protein supplements prevents deficiency and reduces hair fall. Protein supplements do not cause liver damage. Excreting protein is a natural work for a kidney, only with a pre-existing kidney problem, quantity of protein is restricted.
